Today, when opening a new tab on the Chrome browser, many users discovered a unique Google doodle. It uses a new gradient color logo, which is no longer just for aesthetics, but officially announced: Google AI Mode is online.

This is a landmark update and a key step for Google's search engine to move from "information retrieval" to "intelligent answers."

Search is not just about finding answers, but about understanding your questions

In the past year, Google has tested some generative AI search features. Although they are innovative, they are still controversial in terms of accuracy and user experience. By 2025, although AI capabilities have improved, "irrelevant questions" still occasionally appear.

However, this time, Google's slogan for AI Mode is: "The strongest AI search experience in history."

It is not intended to replace traditional search, but to help users solve those vague, complex problems that even require multiple searches to figure out.

What is Google AI Mode?

Simply put, AI mode is a new feature in Google Search. It generates more direct, condensed, and reference-linked answers for users by integrating generative AI responses + real web content.

After you enter a question in the search bar, AI will analyze multiple information sources on the Internet and summarize the answer in natural language, with links for further reading.

The core behind this mode is Google's Gemini 2.5 large model, which is currently Google's most powerful multimodal AI system, capable of processing text, voice, and even image queries.

In other words, you can ask questions in text, speak, or even upload pictures, and AI mode can understand your intentions and give intelligent responses.

What can Google AI mode do?

According to Robby Stein, vice president of Google search products, AI mode is particularly suitable for problems that require thinking, comparison, and exploration.

For example:

  • Want to understand the core concepts of a new field
  • Compare the pros and cons of multiple travel destinations
  • Find suggestions for a skill learning path
  • Explore the various possibilities behind health problems

Traditional search may require you to click on multiple web pages and filter information yourself. The AI mode tries to summarize these contents at once, allowing you to obtain "valuable" information faster.

How to use Google AI AI mode?

Currently, Google AI Mode is fully available in the United States and is being tested in India. If you are in these regions, you can experience it in the following ways:

  • Method 1: Go directly to google.com/aimode
  • Method 2: Open the Google homepage and click the "AI Mode" button on the right side of the search box
  • Method 3: Open the Google app on your phone and you can see the entrance to AI mode on the homepage

Although Google has not yet announced the specific time for global launch, the trend is already very clear: AI will gradually be integrated into every search and even change the way we get information.

In conclusion

Google AI Mode is not a "magic tool" and it cannot solve all problems, but it does represent a new direction for search - smarter, more refined, and more user-centric.

For those who need to search and filter a lot of information every day, AI mode may be an efficiency upgrade; and for users who are used to using search to learn new knowledge, it may also bring a new way of inspiration.

In the future, search will no longer be just "finding information", but "conversational understanding". Google AI Mode is worth a try.
